Job Description

The post holder will assist with the delivery of ophthalmic services at Moorfields in Bedford .
The post holder will facilitate the provision of excellent nursing care and work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, scrub in theatre.
They will assist in ensuring the effective running of the services which consist of surgery, out-patients and Daycare treatments whilst ensuring the safety and wellbeing of patients and always working in a manner that promotes dignity and human rights through the adoption of person-centered care principles.
Main duties of the job
o Responsible for carrying out clinical ophthalmic practice within designated clinical areas, ensuring that high quality, current evidence-based nursing assessment, care planning, implementation, interventions and evaluations for patients is provided from admission through to discharge.
Perform scrubbing duties of different ophthalmic procedures. o Responsible for the application of knowledge across the range of ophthalmic work procedures and practices, underpinned by theoretical knowledge and practical experience.
o To act as advocate for patients within the area, to ensure a patient orientated approach to the delivery of care and to meet standards within the NHS Plan and other relevant guidelines.
o Participate in key developments relating to the ophthalmic specialty so that high quality patient focused services are promoted.
o To help ensure that the learning environment and specialist training is provided for the benefit of all staff and that evidence-based practice is incorporated and utilized in the teaching environment.
o To ensure mandatory training is kept up to date
o To work with the Practice Development Team in the development and implementing of evidence-based practice.
o Be a role model and demonstrate specialist knowledge and high standards of clinical practice and provide support or advice when necessary.
Actively participate in audit taking, presenting and sharing of audit outcomes.
