T? Hafan is a beautiful children's hospice located on the picturesque Vale of Glamorgan coastline. Covering the South, East and West Wales T? Hafan offers a beautiful, newly refurbished working environment set in idyllic grounds a short distance from the metropolitan area of Cardiff.



We have an exciting opportunity for a Therapeutic Playworker to join our Play Team, who provide a variety of sessions, such as multisensory, arts and crafts, storytelling and other activities. These are run in the Hospice itself and also in the homes.



Hours for the role are 37.5 hours. Applicants will be required to work flexibly, occasional weekend and evenings as and when required.

About the Role

We are looking to recruit an experienced Therapeutic Playworkers, to provide and facilitate, therapeutic interventions through specialised mediums where needed, in both the hospice and community settings, as part of the professional delivery of a paediatric palliative care service. The role will work with children and young people from 0-18 with a range of abilities and complex conditions.



We are looking for a candidate with a passion for play and an understanding of the role that play supports in overall development and wellbeing. Experience of working with complex needs and within multisensory environments is essential, as is the ability to drive, due to the large geographical area that we cover.



We welcome applicants with artistic and creative backgrounds but especially value the ability to work dynamically and creatively. Those who are confident to work "in the moment" and problem solve would be very well suited to this team.

Our team at T? Hafan are supportive and inclusive, we value individual differences, and understand experience can come from many avenues, therefore it is not essential to have previous experience working in a palliative care environment. Palliative care is defined as the total care of individuals from diagnosis of a life-shortening condition, beyond transition into adult services, or in providing extensive bereavement support. It is important to remember that paediatric palliative care is so much more than just end of life care, T? Hafan holds enhancing quality of life at its very core.
