Info about what the Tooling Technician role entails



We're looking for a hands-on and detail-driven Tooling Technician to manage the upkeep and performance of both customer-supplied and in-house tooling. This role is key to ensuring that all tooling used in our production environment is maintained to the highest standard and is fully operational when needed.

You'll be responsible for tracking the condition of tooling assets using a structured tooling management system, investigating issues, and performing precise repairs to get equipment back into production efficiently and safely.

Main Duties & Responsibilities



Conduct routine and ad hoc repairs on a range of tooling used across manufacturing operations. Maintain clear records of tooling specifications, maintenance history, and technical documentation, including CAD files and inspection results. Assess and test tool setups to verify function within specific processes. Oversee validation procedures and approve tooling for production use following any modifications or repairs. Identify faults or wear, diagnose problems quickly, and implement practical solutions to minimise downtime.

Essential Requirements of a Tooling Technician



Previous experience in a machine shop or tooling maintenance role, with knowledge of lathes, milling machines, and similar equipment. Skilled in using hand-held tools such as drills, grinders, and polishers with precision and care. Proficient in taking accurate measurements using tools like calipers, micrometers, and height gauges. Highly organised, capable of managing time and tasks independently. Strong team collaborator who works well across departments to achieve common goals. Technically minded with a good understanding of engineering and manufacturing processes.
