This role is remote working and will efficiently and competently plan, develop and deliver the Tournament schedule on a daily basis for Members throughout the UK but predominantly within the South of England.

The Role:
To act as an Ambassador of The PGA at all times, promoting key organisational messages and always presenting the Association, PGA Members, Partners and Golf in a positive light.

  • To support the Tournament Manager and Tournament Director by delivering all tournaments in the area in line with PGA standards, company policy and tournament policies. Combining this function with National Tournaments where appropriate.
  • Conduct planning meetings and course inspections for each tournament.
  • Record and distribute meeting minutes and reports, ensuring all tournaments are adequately planned and resourced to meet the standards and expectations of PGA Members, host venues, amateur golfers and sponsors/partners.
  • Prepare local rules and all relevant tournament paperwork in preparation for each event (eg: scorecards, pin placements, conditions, posters etc, including BlueGolf).
  • Organise administration and delivery (including overseeing tournament staff) on each tournament day (eg registration, starting, recording, rulings, etc).
  • Collate and post results, conduct prize givings and make any relevant presentations.
  • Work with the Tournament Director to deliver all press & PR as agreed for the tournament.
  • To co-ordinate tournament support equipment.
  • Deploy the required tournament staff and ensure PGA and Customer Service standards are met, and health and safety and driving for work legislation and guidelines are adhered to (including the completion of Golf Facility risk assessments).
  • Driving the tournament vehicle to and from events, as and when required.
  • To operate and maintain tournament management software (Bluegolf) and ensure the accuracy of administrative and public facing information regarding tournaments.
  • To ensure standard operating procedures are followed for all tournament activity.
  • Support the Tournament Manager, Tournament Director and office staff, as required, when not at tournaments.
  • Communicate with Members, golf clubs and sponsors, as appropriate, by telephone and digital media.
  • Play an active role in the achievement of Tournament KPIs
Role Requirements: Education/Qualifications/Key Competences/Personal Profile:
Good knowledge of the game and structure of golf; passed or working towards PGA and R&A Rules exams; good knowledgeable player of golf; excellent IT skills; experience of database management (BlueGolf); excellent administration, communication and customer care skills; first aid qualified (desirable); experience in supervising of staff for projects or events; ability to supervise a people/small team; flexibility and good organisational skills; ability to plan and prioritise work against strict and often distant deadlines; business and customer focused; highly motivated to continuously improve standards giving attention to detail; proactive attitude to problem solving; confident public speaker; understands the profile, needs and demands of the membership organisation; able to spend time away from home.
