Job description

The role:

Due to the continued growth of the company a new opportunity to join our team at the Ludlow office as a trainee accountant has arisen.

This role will initially be focused on the preparation of VAT Returns and Bookkeeping on software from records provided by clients.

This will involve analysing sales and purchase invoices, entering these onto the accounting software package and then reconciling these transactions to the bank.

Computer literacy and experience with excel is essential. A wide range of software packages are used with Sage and Xero being the primary packages. Training and guidance on the use of these accounting packages will be provided so whilst prior experience is beneficial it will not be a determining factor.

There will often be times when other members of the team will require assistance and a willingness to pitch in and help colleagues is important. There will also be an office administration element to the role.

As the candidate's career and AAT study progresses they will gain experience in other areas such as accounts and tax return preparation for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.

Our standard working hours are Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm with half an hour for lunch.

The candidate:

We are looking for an individual with a keen attention to detail and a careful rigorous approach to their work. Interpersonal skills and strong time management skills are also being looked for. The work carried out by the individual will be relied upon by other members of the team and the clients themselves and accuracy is therefore vital.

Due to the nature of the work and deadlines involved the individual will need to have strong time management and the ability to work under pressure when necessary.

The package:

In exchange we will provide the following:

- a competitive salary based on experience reviewed following exam successes

- 20 days annual leave plus bank holidays (FTE) plus an additional days holiday for each year served up to a maximum of 5 additional days (FTE)

- A contribution towards study of the AAT qualification

- Of the 8% auto-enrolment pension contribution we will pay the full 8% instead of the usual 3%

- After 6 months qualifying service the individual will also benefit from access to a Sovereign Health Care cash plan giving money back for everyday health care costs, MyStaffShop discount card and death in service benefit.
