We are looking for an enthusiastic Trainee Accountant to join our Finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a foundation in finance or accounts, whether part-qualified or experienced, who is keen to develop professionally, innovate, and embrace new technology.
You'll play a key role in supporting the Financial Controller with both daily and monthly finance tasks while gaining experience across a wide range of accounting activities. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a busy environment and wants to progress their accounting career with structured support
What You'll Be Involved In
You'll gain exposure across the finance function, with responsibilities such as:
Balance-sheet reconciliations and journal corrections
Purchase ledger support and supplier reconciliations
Monitoring daily cashflow
Assisting our Project Accountant with project updates and monthly meetings
Preparing VAT information
Tracking project costs, budgets and WIP
Helping improve and streamline finance processes
Full training will be provided where needed.
What You'll Bring
We're looking for someone who has:
AAT Level 3+ (or part-qualified / working towards an accounting qualification)
A solid understanding of core accounting principles (P&L, Balance Sheet, TB, double-entry)
Experience in a busy accounting environment (project-based experience a bonus)
Strong reconciliation skills and confident Excel ability (lookups, pivot tables, formulas)
A proactive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to work well with both finance and non-finance colleagues
Experience with Sage 200, Union Square (USQ), project accounting, or charity/grant accounting is beneficial -- but not essential. An interest in construction or archaeology is also welcomed.
