About The Role




We have an exciting opportunity for a

Trainee Quantity Surveyor

to join our friendly and dynamic Commercial team based in our

Eastern Region office in Bedford

. This is a fantastic chance to begin or develop your career in construction, gaining hands-on experience across multiple commercial functions within a supportive environment.


About the Role





As a Trainee Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in supporting the Commercial team in delivering high-quality and cost-effective housing developments. You will be involved in a wide range of tasks that will give you exposure to the full commercial lifecycle of a project.



Your responsibilities will include:


Assisting in the preparation and distribution of tender packs to subcontractors and suppliers Chasing and collating subcontractor quotations Supporting general commercial administration tasks Maintaining and updating procurement trackers Assisting in the preparation of commercial reports for Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs) Supporting the team with document control and filing systems Liaising with internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure smooth commercial operations

Departmental Rotation





To provide a well-rounded understanding of the commercial function, this role will also include structured rotations in the

Buying Department

and

Estimating Department

. During these rotations, you will:


Gain insight into procurement strategies and supplier negotiations Assist in material scheduling and order placement Support the estimating team in preparing cost plans and feasibility studies Learn how early-stage cost assessments influence project viability and design decisions

What We're Looking For





We're seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual who is eager to learn and grow within the construction industry. Ideal candidates will have:


A keen interest in Quantity Surveying and commercial management Strong organisational and communication skills A proactive attitude and willingness to take on new challenges Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications A desire to work collaboratively within a team environment

About You



We're looking for the following in applications:





A minimum of 4 GCSE's at grade 4 or above and a qualification at A-level or equivalent Interest in a construction career Good with numbers and attention to detail A driven attitude with the desire to succeed Excellent written and verbal communication skills Bringing together two trusted housebuilding brands, Tilia Homes and Hopkins Homes, untypical aims to make a positive difference to the UK housebuilding market and help to provide greater access to homes which are affordable for buyers.
