Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail?oriented
Trainee Quantity Surveyor
to join our team at EA Construction (Scotland) Ltd. This is a fantastic opportunity to begin or further your career in quantity surveying, working alongside experienced professionals on a wide variety of infrastructure, civil, and residential projects. You will gain hands?on experience in cost management, procurement, contract administration and contribute to projects that shape communities across Scotland.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation of cost estimates, budgets, and tender documentation
Support measurement and valuation of works undertaken on site
Assist with procurement activities, including subcontractor enquiries and comparisons
Monitor and track project costs and variations
Help prepare interim valuations, final accounts, and financial reports
Maintain accurate records and documentation according to company procedures
Attend site visits and meetings as required
Collaborate closely with project managers, site teams, and senior surveyors
Learn and apply relevant construction regulations, codes, and industry best practices
Contribute to the successful financial delivery of projects
Requirements
Essential:
Studying towards or recently completed a relevant qualification (e.g. HNC/HND or Degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management)
Strong numeracy and analytical skills
Good written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Eagerness to learn and develop a career in construction cost management
Ability to work effectively in a team and under supervision
Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
Previous experience or a placement in a construction or surveying environment
Familiarity with construction drawings and specifications
Basic knowledge of standard contracts
