Trainee Quantity Surveyor

About the Role:

As our Trainee Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in supporting the commercial, operations, and finance teams. Your responsibilities will include:

Assist with preparing and submitting monthly valuations and payment applications. Support the measurement and valuation of variations, dayworks, and subcontractor changes. Help track budgets, costs, and cash flow forecasts for live projects. Maintain and update procurement schedules and contract cost tracking spreadsheets. Help draft and issue subcontractor orders, ensuring compliance with scope and budget. Review, log, and track subcontractor applications, invoices, and payment notices. Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain quotations and resolve discrepancies. Attend site visits and project meetings to take notes and monitor commercial progress. Support the collection of site data for commercial reporting and forecasting. Communicate with site managers and team members to ensure timely data flow. Compiling documents for project setup, cost reporting, and internal reviews. Maintain well-organised digital and physical filing systems Use tools like Excel, Word, and document control platforms (e.g. Monday.com & Viewpoint) to update records and dashboards.

Requirements:

Minimum of

1 year of relevant experience

in a construction, commercial, or finance-related role Intermediate Excel and general IT skills Strong organisational skills and attention to detail Ability to work across different teams and meet strict monthly and quarterly deadlines

Desirable attributes:

Use of Pegasus CIS software Use of Monday.com Familiarity with power BI A driver's licence and vehicle
