About the Role



Adam Bernard Solicitors is offering an exciting opportunity for a Trainee Solicitor to join our growing Immigration Department. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with at least one year of experience in immigration law, whether through previous work or internships, who is eager to develop further skills and expertise.

We are committed to providing high-quality training and support, offering both

training contracts

and

qualifying work experience (QWE)

for those who wish to qualify as solicitors in the future. The successful candidate will work closely with senior solicitors, gain hands-on experience in immigration law, and have the opportunity to contribute to a wide variety of cases.

Key Responsibilities



Casework & Legal Research:

Assist with managing a caseload of immigration matters, including personal and business immigration, under the supervision of senior solicitors. Conduct legal research and draft legal documents, including client letters, applications, and appeals.

Client Liaison:

Communicate directly with clients, providing updates on their cases, gathering necessary documentation, and offering advice under supervision.

Application Preparation:

Support the preparation and submission of immigration applications, including spouse/partner visas, settlement (ILR), points-based system applications, and sponsor licence applications.

Court & Tribunal Assistance:

Attend hearings or tribunals, assisting senior solicitors with advocacy and case preparation.

Document Drafting & Legal Representation:

Draft legal representations, client care documents, and detailed advice letters for a variety of immigration matters.

Supervision & Development:

Receive one-on-one mentoring and regular feedback from senior solicitors to develop your legal knowledge, technical skills, and professional competence.

Compliance:

Ensure accurate and timely file management in line with SRA and Lexcel requirements.

Skills & Experience Required



Immigration Law Experience:

At least 1 year of experience working in immigration law (whether in a paralegal, assistant, or other support role). This could include experience gained through internships, voluntary work, or previous employment.

Strong Legal Research Skills:

Ability to conduct detailed legal research and apply it to real-world case scenarios.

Communication Skills:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, colleagues, and external parties.

Team Player:

A collaborative approach with the ability to work independently when needed.

Organisational Skills:

Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a busy caseload effectively.

Motivation & Eagerness to Learn:

Enthusiastic and motivated to develop your legal skills, with a genuine interest in immigration law and a desire to qualify as a solicitor.
