Transition from Care to Classroom: Support Children with Complex Needs

If you've worked in health and social care, children's homes, supported living, or similar settings, you already have what it takes to make a difference in a specialist school classroom. Your empathy, patience and understanding are exactly what pupils with additional needs need to thrive.

The Role

You'll support pupils with complex learning, communication, sensory, or emotional needs in a specialist school setting. Responsibilities may include:

Working one?to?one or in small groups Supporting with personal care, sensory activities, and emotional regulation Collaborating with teachers, therapists and SEND specialists
A dedicated induction and ongoing training will help you transition smoothly into education, supported by a compassionate, experienced team.

The Ideal Candidate & Qualifications

We're seeking someone with:

Experience of supporting individuals with SEND A calm, caring, and patient approach Strong communication and teamwork skills A qualification in health and social care, care work, social work or a related field
If you have experience from adult or child?focused roles in the community, residential care or other SEND settings, your background is highly transferable.

Working Hours

Monday to Friday, 8.30?am to 3.30?pm. No weekends, no shift?working.

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.
