TRANSPORT MANAGER



Full time (40 hours Monday-Friday) /Permanent/ Ref: TM/09/25




Location:

Duncrue Street, Belfast




(however due to the nature of the post, will be required to work at our Portadown & Mallusk depot and other depots throughout the group as and when required)







Due to our continual growth, we wish to appoint a

Transport Manager

who will be responsible for managing the Transport division throughout the

Belfast region (Duncrue Street, Mallusk & Portadown sites).

Purpose of the Job





Reporting to the Group Transport Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the Transport division (HGV Drivers, Helpers, Weighbridge, Office staff) over these regions.



You will have full responsibility and accountability to ensure that the transport division under your remit operates effectively and efficiently and adheres to its legal obligations.




Main Duties & Responsibilities




Managing the transport teams in this region to ensure work is completed effectively and efficiently and consistent with Company standards/legal obligations.

Overseeing the organising and scheduling of vehicles and transport staff and routes (both operational, administration and weighbridge) to optimise efficiencies.

Overall responsibility to ensure that all drivers / helpers are operating in line with their legal obligations i.e. drivers' hours, rules and regulations

Management of all non-conformances ensuring that all relevant personnel are notified and managed in accordance with Company policy and that all records are maintained on the Company's Internal auditing software

Monitor, investigate and raise issues of non-conformance on Company internal auditing software.

Contamination Management - Oversee and implement procedures to monitor, identify, and reduce contamination in waste streams. Work closely with operational teams, drivers, and clients to ensure proper segregation of materials and compliance with relevant environmental regulations. Investigate contamination incidents, report findings, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Promote awareness and training on contamination control across the transport and logistics team.

Manage & investigate any customer complaints and action as deemed appropriate.

To prepare and manage the Transport budget within the agreed parameters and drive efficiencies.

To support and advise the Transport division in the continuous development and improvement of company policies and procedures.

Monitor and manage all Transport related incidents / accidents and liaising with appropriate personnel to conduct investigations etc.

Responsibility to ensure that all Driver Documentation is kept up to date; i.e. licence, Digi card and DQC.

Responsible for adhering to maintenance vehicle schedules.

Ensure Company remains compliant in line with its operating licence.


-Working closely with the Company's Training department to identify training needs as well as liaising with the groups Driver Trainer to ensure the Company retains a well- trained workforce in line with our legal requirements


Organise and carry out any relevant training including Tool Box Talks as and when required

Represent the Company at Regional legislative seminars and courses and reporting back any relevant changes to the Senior Management team

Liaise with HR to ensure that adequate staffing levels can meet operational requirements - participate in recruitment and selection procedures.

People Management - carry out employee performance reviews, absence management (including holiday requests), participate in Disciplinary and grievance hearings,

Provide strong leadership, direction, and mentoring, thereby fostering and sustaining cooperation and team spirit.

Participate in regular review meetings and audits of premises, equipment, and service levels.

Work alongside key stakeholders/divisions, i.e. Service and Contracts teams across the group to ensure an integrated approach.

Work in conjunction with the Groups Operations teams to ensure accurate tonnage movement is consistent with MRF requirements.

Monitor and adapt to customer SLA's to ensure contractual obligations are met.

Take responsibility for the Health and Safety of yourself and others whilst at work

Comply with the Company's policies and legislation

Support Company Initiatives and demonstrate Company Values.

To comply with all legal, regulatory, and statutory obligations applicable to the role.

Participate in training and personal development activities, as required.

Carry out any other reasonable tasks as required by the Company.



Essential criteria




To be considered for this role, you should display the following:


Must have a current Transport Manager CPC (International) qualification

Minimums 3 years' previous supervisory experience in either a Transport Compliance / Transport Supervisor/Manager role

Understanding of key company accounts, and associated SLA's

Basic disclosure checks i.e., Access NI, will be required and should be maintained

Can demonstrate previous experience dealing with Transport Compliance

Strong management and leadership qualities

Previous experience working to budgets and KPI's

Excellent knowledge and experience of Drivers hours / rules and regulations

Working knowledge of SOP's and ability to write same

Excellent communication skills both verbal and written

IT literate, in particular, Microsoft office; Word and Excel and Outlook

Experience of Company compliance software systems

Highly organised individual, who has the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Flexible approach to working hours

Must have a valid UK Driving Licence as this role will involve travel around all the depots throughout the RiverRidge Group.

Must be flexible in undertaking the duties and responsibilities attached to your role
