Rocal Group are looking for a driven and organised Transport Manager to lead our customer-facing Transport team and oversee daily operations.
In this role, you will maximise utilisation and cost-effectiveness whilst prioritising excellent customer service and upholding an excellent delivery experience for our partners.
In a nutshell, our new Transport Manager will play an essential role in our customers' journeys and will be pivotal to ensuring successful deliveries.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and oversee the daily transport operations, including the scheduling, loading and dispatch of vehicles.
Monitor and manage the performance of drivers and office transport staff.
Ensure all deliveries and collections are completed on time and within budget.
Oversee the maintenance, servicing, and repair schedules of the fleet.
Ensure vehicles are roadworthy and compliant with legal and company requirements.
Manage fleet tracking systems to monitor vehicle movements and optimize routes.
Lead the team ensuring RTW, disciplinaries, performance management and appraisals are completed with all members of staff
Ensure transport operations comply with UK laws, including tachograph regulations, driver hours, and health and safety standards.
Maintain accurate records for vehicle inspections, licenses, and insurance
Plan and oversee the daily transport operations, including the scheduling and dispatch of vehicles.
Lead Department improvement projects (new systems, vehicle acquisitions etc)
Engage and inspire the team, and ensure the drivers reflect the businesses brand & values
Compliance around H&S, operating license, VOSA traffic commission, driver performance, vehicle safety
Liaise with external stakeholders- for example agencies, garages, carrier, third parties, RHA etc
Work with production planner & customer service to resolve customer requests (failed deliveries /Early delivery requests etc)
Hold the operating licence for the company
What You Bring
Experience of multi drop distribution/final mile delivery is essential
A CPC qualification in Transport Management (this is essential for the role)
Knowledge of UK road network, transport laws, logistics & fleet management principles
Proficiency in transport management & fleet management systems
Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities
Experience of leading projects would be advantageous
A self-motivated individual with a high level of drive and initiative
Proactive, results driven mentality, always striving to improve
A natural ability to see problems & opportunities. Is inquisitive and ask questions to seek further clarification
High level of safety consciousness
Takes control and established ownership of their area of responsibility.
