Summary
We are seeking a Transport Manager to join our team at Trimline Group. This pivotal role will oversee all transportation operations, ensuring efficient logistics and delivery processes that align with our commitment to excellence in customer service. The position is based in the UK.
Responsibilities
Ensure full compliance with DVSA regulations, operator licensing conditions, driver hours, tachograph rules, and all relevant transport legislation.
Manage all aspects of fleet maintenance including inspections, servicing, MOTs, and defect reporting, ensuring vehicles remain roadworthy and compliant at all times.
Plan, coordinate, and manage daily delivery and collection routes to maximise vehicle utilisation, reduce mileage, and improve delivery performance.
Lead and support the driver team, overseeing recruitment, training, performance monitoring, and compliance with working time regulations.
Maintain accurate transport records including vehicle files, driver logs, maintenance schedules, and incident reports.
Identify and implement improvements in routing, fleet performance, cost control, and customer delivery experience.
Manage transport-related budgets, including oversight of fuel costs, vehicle hire, maintenance, and overtime.
Enforce and promote health and safety standards within the transport function, ensuring full adherence to company and statutory requirements.
Coordinate closely with internal teams including warehouse, sales, and customer service to align transport operations with broader business needs.
Manage relationships with third-party courier partners, ensuring agreed service levels are met, performance is monitored, and issues are resolved promptly.
Oversee external supplier relationships, including vehicle leasing companies, maintenance providers, and compliance partners.
Requirements
Proven experience in a transport or logistics management role with responsibility for fleet and driver compliance, routing, and courier management.
CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) in Transport Management.
Strong understanding of UK transport legislation, fleet operations, and vehicle maintenance requirements.
Solid experience in route planning and the use of transport and telematics systems.
Strong leadership and people management skills.
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Ability to manage third-party logistics providers and hold them accountable to SLAs.
