We're a fourth-generation, family-run logistics business with over 90 years of history and a reputation for doing things the right way. From our depots across Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire and some offsite locations, we operate a diverse fleet of 70 HGVs and over 100,000 ft of warehousing, serving customers nationwide with everything from general haulage and pallet distribution to contract logistics and specialist movements.
Innovation and sustainability are at the heart of what we do. We're proud to run the UK's first 42-tonne Renault E-Tech electric tractor units, supported by on-site charging infrastructure, and we continue to invest in technology, people and greener ways of moving freight.
Above all, Welch Group is a family business with a friendly, supportive culture. Many of our team have been with us for decades, and we're always looking for the next generation of logistics professionals to grow with us.

You'll play a vital role in keeping our fleet compliant, efficient and safe, while supporting the ongoing development of both people and processes within the depot.
What you'll do
Monitor fleet activity, ensuring ETAs are met, departments are updated and drivers' hours/breaks are compliant
Carry out daily driver pre-briefs and de-briefs, monitoring standards of driving through telematics and addressing training needs where required
Ensure consignments are correctly managed, status-tracked and updated throughout the day
Support Customer Services in handling internal and external queries quickly and professionally
Conduct shift briefings, toolbox talks and ensure strong communication across teams
Complete thorough handovers for the next shift to maintain service continuity
What we're looking for
Experience supervising drivers in a transport or logistics environment
Good working knowledge of UK & EU drivers' hours, WTD and O-Licence compliance (training provided)
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to stay calm under pressure
Confident communicator, able to brief/de-brief drivers and liaise with other teams
Familiarity with telematics, transport systems and vehicle compliance processes (training provided)
A proactive problem solver with a focus on safety, service and efficiency
Leadership qualities, with the ability to support and develop colleagues
What's in it for you
Competitive salary plus quarterly profit-related bonus
20 days holiday + bank holidays
Company pension, life insurance and access to well-being support
Real career progression opportunities within the Group
Ongoing training and CPD to support your personal and professional growth
A supportive, family-run business where you'll be more than just a number
