We're looking for a hands-on Transport & Operations Supervisor to lead day-to-day depot activity at Carnforth. This is a key on-site role where safety, compliance, and people leadership come together.

What You'll Do



Supervise daily depot and transport operations Coordinate with routing and customer service teams to resolve issues Ensure vehicles, equipment, and site standards are safe, compliant, and well maintained Act as an out-of-hours contact for transport incidents and site security Support safety meetings, toolbox talks, and audits Be first responder to fuel spillages and contamination incidents Manage breakdown cover, winter gritting, and site fire safety checks

? Safety, Compliance & Transport Management



Ensure operations meet legal, company, and fuel safety requirements Monitor driver compliance with hours, PPE, safe systems of work, and defect reporting Act as Named Transport Manager, ensuring full compliance with operator licence, driver licensing, CPC, tachographs, inspections, and maintenance Maintain accurate records and support audits and inspections

Driver Leadership




Act as first point of contact for drivers on site Support recruitment, onboarding, training, and probation reviews Coach drivers on performance, safety, and wellbeing Manage attendance, holidays, sickness, and time recording Support payroll submission and escalate formal HR matters when required

Continuous Improvement




Support performance against KPIs Implement corrective actions and local improvement initiatives Provide regular feedback to Transport Manager and the Operations Manager

Qualifications & Experience





Experience in transport or depot operations with a good understanding of driver supervision, compliance, and health & safety would be ideal. Holding the International CPC qualification would be an advantage, however full training and support can be provided.



Knowledge of operator licence requirements, driver hours, and vehicle defect reporting is beneficial, as is experience in fuel or hazardous goods environments or holding a health & safety qualification. Strong communication skills, confidence working with drivers, and a proactive, safety-first approach are key.
