Transport Planner / Traffic Operator
to join our transport office team.

: Maltby, Rotherham
Key Responsibilities
Source, plan and schedule daily collections and deliveries for our general haulage fleet across the UK.
Maximise vehicle and driver utilisation while maintaining compliance with drivers' hours and tachograph regulations.
Work closely with drivers, the warehouse team and customers to ensure deliveries are made safely, on time, and to client specifications.
Monitor progress of deliveries and collections using vehicle tracking and telematics systems, adjusting plans as needed due to traffic or operational changes.
Ensure all relevant transport documentation (delivery notes, PODs, manifests) are completed and processed accurately and on time.
Respond promptly to delivery issues or breakdowns, providing solutions and driver support.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of road networks, transport legislation, and general haulage industry trends.
Liaise with maintenance providers to ensure the fleet remains roadworthy and compliant.
Produce daily and weekly planning reports for management review.
Key Requirements
Proven experience in transport planning or traffic operations within a general haulage or road freight environment (essential).
Strong geographical knowledge of the UK road network.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions quickly under pressure.
Familiarity with transport management systems (TMS), vehicle telematics, and Microsoft Office applications
Understanding of drivers' hours, WTD, and relevant DVSA compliance standards.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Can do attitude and a good sense of humour.
Flexible approach to working hours - willingness to work occasional weekends, early starts, or late finishes as required.
