Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled freelance Tree Surgeon to join our team on a flexible basis with regular work offered if desired. The ideal candidate will have a passion for horticulture and landscape maintenance, with a strong focus on tree care and environmental stewardship. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work outdoors, utilise a variety of tools and machinery, and contribute to the health and aesthetics of green spaces. Applicants should be organised, safety-conscious, and possess a keen eye for detail. The vast majority of our work is carried out at larger residential properties / private estates.

Duties

Pruning, felling, and dismantling trees using appropriate techniques and equipment Conducting health assessments of trees and recommending suitable treatments or removals Operating mechanical equipment such as excavators for lifting and manoeuvring large branches or trees and removing stumps. Maintaining and repairing tools including hand tools, power tools, and specialised horticultural equipment Installing and maintaining irrigation systems to support landscape health Assisting with general landscape maintenance tasks including gardening, planting, and soil conditioning Ensuring all work complies with health and safety regulations and environmental standards Supporting construction projects related to landscape development as required

Experience

Proven experience in Arboriculture either as a grounds person or climber. Experience with rigging is preferential. Mechanical knowledge related to the operation and maintenance of machinery such as excavators and power tools Familiarity with power tools used in tree surgery and landscaping tasks Knowledge of construction practices relevant to outdoor environments is advantageous Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions while maintaining safety standards
