Job Title: Trusts and DBS Administrator



Salary: Grade C (28,610 - 32,370)



Location: 2 Callaghan Square, Cardiff, CF10 5BT



Contract: Permanent



Reporting to: In-House Solicitor and Trust Manager



Hours of Work: Full time (34.75 hours per week)



The national office of the Church in Wales is the base for a wide range of central activities serving the needs of the Anglican Church across Wales. These activities include managing the operations of a large central charity (the Representative Body), managing the historic assets of the church (including several hundred church buildings and vicarages), administering the pension scheme for the clergy and supporting the Church in Wales' governance, mission and ministry.

In addition to the central charity itself, the Representative Body is a corporate trustee for a large number of charitable trusts held for the benefit of church buildings, churchyards, ministry areas (parishes), and dioceses. The trust portfolio currently includes over 2,000 such trusts, greatly varying in size and scope.

The Trusts and DBS Officer will be responsible for the day-to-day administration and operation of the charitable trusts of which the Representative Body is the corporate trustee. They will also be responsible for the day-to-administration of and user support for 'My Church People', the central database of Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks and safeguarding training for staff, clergy and volunteers across the Church in Wales.

Essential:



The ability to communicate clearly and articulately, in person, by telephone and in writing, with colleagues, clergy, and other members of the Church in Wales.

Good Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel skills.

A high level of numerical and financial literacy, accuracy and attention to detail.

Ability to complete work to deadlines on a weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual basis.

Ability to balance and prioritise a varied caseload, manage competing priorities and continually improve processes.

An empathy with the mission and ministry of the Church in Wales.

Desirable:



Experience of dealing with the administration of charities and/or trusts.

An understanding of the law and regulations governing criminal record checks through the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Experience of using SharePoint as a file repository system.

An understanding of the structures of the Church in Wales.

Welsh language skills/the ability to communicate in Welsh.
