level in Maths and/or Science.

We are looking for Tutors to join our team to start in September 2025.
Primary Purpose of Job:
To provide bespoke tutoring to young people aged between 11 -18 years old
Hours:
Each placement will be between 2-10 hours across the week. Timings are negotiable. Once agreed, placements take place at a consistent time each week, term-time only

Person Specification
You will be expected to plan and deliver a customised tutoring programme to the young people assigned to you. You will have an adaptable and flexible approach, and be able to cater to each individual young person's special educational needs, as set out in their EHCP.
Tutoring on a one to one basis, you will need to work creatively and intuitively, be empathetic to the young person's requirements, and provide professional and reliable support.
The young people we typically work with have an EHCP, often have social and emotional health needs and are likely to not be attending school. Using their ECHP outcomes, you will provide a learning pathway that the young person can access to support their transition back to an educational setting and/or achieve qualifications as appropriate.
The right candidate will be working to a high professional standard supporting young people to engage in education and build resilience.
Essential
Qualified Teaching Status
Ability to quickly build positive relationships with young people and their families
An empathetic approach to learning, with the ability to boost a student's confidence and self-esteem, with an ambition for young people to reach their potential
Commitment, reliability, honesty and lots of patience
Excellent communication
Ability to extensively differentiate planning and teaching
A valid enhanced DBS check (or an existing DBS on the update service)
Clear understanding of safeguarding and child protection legislation
Experience working with young people with an EHCP
Valid UK drivers' licence and use of a car for work
Right to live and work within the UK
Specific Responsibilities
Planning differentiated tutoring sessions dependant on the young person's needs
Preparing students for exams or tests
Support young people to achieve their targets set out in their EHCP
Timely submission (within 24 hours) of tutoring session summary reports
Maintaining up-to-date subject knowledge
Marking and assessing work and homework regularly, providing constructive feedback to students
Maintaining student attendance and progress records
Displaying professionalism at all times, representing the aims of the charity
Practical knowledge of safeguarding and child protection
