Our Client is a leading producer of recycled multi-purpose plastic materials. Currently recruiting for a UK & Ireland Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for generating new business. Your primary focus will be to increase lead generation, identify new applications for their existing sheet and profile products and propose new ideas for manufacturing or trading sheet-based products. The role will not involve managing existing accounts, but you will be expected to generate new customers and revenue streams for the business. The primary sectors of focus will be Agriculture, Equestrian, Building & Construction, Landscaping & Fabrication and Packaging. You will manage the new accounts you bring into the business with support from the Head of Sales.

The position is Home Office based, but the role will require regular UK and Ireland customer visits with nights away from home. Also, Customer visits with the aim to be customer facing a minimum of 3 days per week. Able to travel to the Company offices to attend meetings as and when required (typically twice a month), as well as a commitment to build internal relationships. Overseas travel may be required on occasions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify new applications, markets and opportunities for sheet and profile products, for the generation of new business and revenue streams with support from the Head of Sales.
  • Execute your sales budget, meeting agreed sales targets for new business generation.
  • Grow sales revenue through up selling and cross selling to new customers.
  • Identify and put forward new products through NPI process.
  • Develop and maintain long standing relationships with new customers.
  • To work within pricing guidelines as set by the Head of Sales / CEO.
  • Submit a monthly report on sales performance, market prices, trends, and activity, and provide an accurate 3 month forward forecast by product type.
  • Fully utilise the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
  • To attend regular sales meetings, management meetings and attend exhibitions if required.
  • Attend training and to develop relevant knowledge and skills.
Person Specification:
  • A minimum of 5 years\' experience in a BDM role in one of the sectors described above.
  • Track record of developing new markets and applications for established products in one of the sectors described above.
  • Experience of SME Manufacturing environment.
  • Strong Communicator.
  • Self-Motivated, dynamic, and passionate about sales.
  • Computer Skills and competency in basic MS Office Applications.
  • Good presentational skills.
  • Good analytical skills and ability to think strategically.
  • Plastics background is desirable.
  • Experience of using CRM systems.
  • Degree educated.
