Key Relationships: Brokers, coverholders, underwriters, Specialty Risks underwriters, Specialty Risks underwriting management, Product Development, Broker Relations, Claims, Marketing, external clients and service providers. Job Summary: To underwrite a London Market Wholesale Safeguard (Sexual molestation liability) & EPL account within the Specialty Risks team and provide counsel and advice on underwriting and market related issues. Provide technical expertise in this business area to build our product\xe2\x80\x99s reputation and standing in the market, as well as maintain and improve market reputation of the Beazley brand. Although focus will be on Safeguard, you will also be required to underwrite and provide counsel and advice on EPL.


General

  • Leverage networking opportunities within the business to develop standardised underwriting policy and best practice within Beazley.
  • Develop best practice and disseminate business and class knowledge within the London Market Wholesale Executive Risks and Specialty Risks team.
  • Work with peers within London Market Wholesale Executive Risks and Specialty Risks to maximise business opportunities and profitability within the department. This will include but not be limited to sharing market information, marketing sources and cross selling opportunities.
  • Share and gather knowledge within the Beazley Group to ensure dissemination of best practice and maximise business opportunities and profitability across the Group.
  • Production of presentations and marketing literature as required.
  • Production of business plans/research documents for the account as required.

Underwriting

  • Develop and underwrite a profitable portfolio of Safeguard (sexual molestation liability) business in support of business plans.
  • Support the underwriting team on EPL accounts to develop and underwrite a profitable portfolio.
  • Structure tailor-made solutions by considering the team underwriting parameters and underwriting policy and using underwriting knowledge and experience to win new business and retain existing.
  • Monitor premiums, costs and claims ratios per contract and take corrective measures if necessary to ensure long term profitability at account level.
  • Evaluate appropriate risk premium by considering the risk costs, reinsurance cessions, capital exposure as well as the underwriting and general administration costs to ensure profitability, using rating models as applicable.
  • Develop and underwrite profitable coverholder business within the portfolio.
  • Monitor peer underwriters in their daily work to ensure profitability as well as efficient and cost effective administration of the account.
  • Monitor and supervise assistants in their daily work to ensure compliance with underwriting philosophy and policy and consistency within the team and Specialty Risks.
  • Comply with Beazley\xe2\x80\x99s underwriting control standards for business written through Lloyd\xe2\x80\x99s or Beazley\xe2\x80\x99s internal MGAs.
  • Develop a good working relationship with the claims managers, service providers, as well as US-based underwriters on this class of business.



Client & Relationship Management


  • Advise, assist and service clients on insurance and risk matters to ensure clients\xe2\x80\x99 satisfaction.
  • Foster positive relationships with clients to get a mutual understanding of both their and Beazley\xe2\x80\x99s needs.
  • Maintenance of good business relationships with brokers.
  • Maintain awareness of overall Beazley product range and take advantages of opportunities to introduce other Beazley products to clients.
  • Raise the profile of Beazley within the broker community increasing the strength of relationships within the broker market to achieve a highly productive level of consistent, strong producer relationships over time.
  • Develop effective and engaging broker education delivering these regularly with the aim of deepening broker knowledge of our products building affinity with our brand.
  • Lead in the education of the broker market on the products in a way that creates a need to buy, highlights our competitive differentiation, illustrate the need for service led products to grow the brand and facilitate the placement of new business with Beazley with a particular focus on new relationships.
  • Ensure we remain front of mind of brokers by planning and engaging in regular virtual/face-to-face meetings while acting as a contact point for broker queries and product education engaging in appropriate communication via social media.
  • Identify, participate and present in conferences and events that increase Beazley\xe2\x80\x99s exposure of Safeguard to potential target markets.
