To provide professional upholstery services within the care home, ensuring all furniture is safe, comfortable, clean, and in good condition. The Upholsterer plays a vital role in maintaining the quality and comfort of furnishings used by residents, helping to create a warm and supportive living environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspect, repair, and reupholster chairs, sofas, cushions, beds, and other furniture used throughout the care home.
Select appropriate materials (fabrics, foams, padding) for upholstery repairs and refurbishments.
Ensure all upholstery work meets safety and hygiene standards, particularly for infection control.
Collaborate with the maintenance team to assess the condition of furniture and prioritize repairs.
Maintain an inventory of upholstery materials and tools, and report when supplies need restocking.
Ensure safe handling and disposal of damaged or hazardous materials.
Work sensitively in areas where residents are present, respecting their privacy and comfort.
Adhere to all health and safety regulations, especially in relation to fire retardancy and safe use of tools.
Provide recommendations for furniture replacement when repairs are not viable.
Maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used.
