What are we looking for

We have an opportunity for a Validation and Testing Engineer within the Compliance and Validation team. This role will report directly to the Validation and Testing Manager.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, planning and undertaking validation test activities; ensuring that the highest level of performance, robustness and reliability of our products is demonstrated. This will range from single component tests through to full scale electrolyser testing. This will be followed by robust data analysis and technical report out. The Validation and Testing Engineer will support the Senior Validation and Testing Engineer in the creation and implementation of Design Verification Plans (DVP) to ensure our products meet customer, internal and legislative requirements. This is a hands-on role, developing new test methods, constructing test rigs, and completing physical tests. The successful candidate will have a proactive approach, great attention to detail, and be driven by engineering excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new validation tests, write robust test procedures and risk assessments to support their completion.
  • Design and construct test rigs, install instrumentation, and configure data logging equipment.
  • Complete physical tests on components, sub systems and full systems, liaising with external facilities where necessary.
  • Analyse test data using relevant tools to support data driven decisions.
  • Write detailed technical test reports providing conclusions and recommendations.
  • Communicate and present results clearly and effectively to all levels of business.
  • Support resolution of engineering issues using recognised methodologies.
  • Assist in the development of system, sub system and component DFMEAs and DVPs.
  • Participation in lessons learned and continuous improvement activities.
  • Coordinate with other functional areas, e.g., programme teams, purchasing, quality.
About You

Skills and Experience
  • Knowledge of electrolyser design, equipment and control systems.
  • Broad engineering understanding with knowledge of process engineering, mechanical engineering and electrical engineering.
  • Experienced with data analysis techniques and statistical methods.
  • Comfortable with hands on mechanical and electrical assembly.
  • Experience working within a H&S and Quality Management system (e.g., ISO 9001).
  • Have strong organisational and documentation skills.
  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively at various levels, from junior to board level.
  • Strong time management and task planning skills.
Highly advantageous
  • Knowledge and experience of control system design and programming.
  • Experience of product FAT/SAT.
  • Five years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in a product development role and working with multi-disciplined and multi-ethnic teams.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent with a mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or science degree.
  • Experience with Mechanical CAD and 2d P&ID design.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma methodologies, Design of Experiments, or similar.
  • Experience of FMEA and DVPSOR.
