The Van Driver / Yard Operative is responsible for supporting the depot operations by ensuring the safe, efficient operation and maintenance of the workshop, plant vehicles, yard area and associated equipment. This role requires a focus on delivering and collection of attachments / buckets from customer sites. The Van Driver / Yard Operative will be expected to provide reliable support to the workshop and contribute to the smooth running of the plant hire operations.
Key Responsibilities
:
Quality and Standards Compliance
:
Carry out all tasks to the highest standards, adhering to client specifications, industry regulations, and manufacturer's guidelines. Ensure all work is completed on time and to the required quality, safety, and environmental standards.
Health and Safety Management
:
Operate in full compliance with the company's Safe Systems of Work, adherence to relevant UK regulations such as the Health and Safety at Work Act, COSHH, and PUWER. Report any hazards, unsafe acts, near misses, accidents, or environmental concerns promptly.
Plant and Equipment Operation
:
Safely operate and maintain plant machinery, vehicles, and associated equipment, ensuring all activities are completed in line with operational requirements.
Team Collaboration and Feedback
:
Liaise effectively with colleagues to ensure smooth and efficient operations. Provide feedback on plant performance, safety, and operational processes to help improve service delivery.
Essential Qualifications and Requirements
:
Valid Driver's Licence
Experience in the plant hire or plant maintenance sectors, with practical knowledge of plant operations, maintenance, and equipment care.
A demonstrated willingness to learn and develop within the role is also essential.
A proactive attitude to safety and quality, with excellent attention to detail.
Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with team members and management, and a professional approach to work at all times.
Desirable Skills and Experience
:
Familiarity with the operational procedures for plant machinery and high-pressure washers.
Ability to identify operational challenges and provide proactive solutions to improve efficiency and safety.
Working Hours & Benefits
Hours
: 45 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Overtime and occasional Saturday work will be required based on operational needs.
Salary
: 29,250.00 per annum.
