An exciting opportunity for a Registered veterinary nurse to join our friendly, welcoming and enthusiastic team in our independent practice in Leeds which opened its doors in 2022.

We are looking for another registered veterinary nurse to join our team at our independent clinic in the Crossgates area of Leeds. This is a great opportunity to join a small, passionate and friendly team in a rapidly growing practice. Part-time or flexible working arrangements will be considered.

About us:

Leeds Veterinary Centre is owned and led by vets Katherine Claxton, James Wood and Vanessa Wood. We opened our practice in July 2022 and have a rapidly growing base of loyal clients. We pride ourselves on offering excellent patient care and customer service, as well as providing a happy and supportive working environment where we work as a team and everyone has the time and resources to thrive and enjoy their work.

Vanessa, Katherine and James are all experienced and dedicated vets with over 45 years of experience in small animal practice between them. James has a surgery certificate and performs advanced soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery. Katherine has a medicine certificate and is passionate about all aspects of medicine and enjoys clinical workups, diagnostic imaging, ensuring excellent anaesthesia and analgesia techniques and focused in-patient care. We are committed to providing exceptional care for our feline patients with a cat-only consultation room, separate cat ward and have achieved ISFM Silver Cat Friendly Practice status. We always want to ensure time and individual care to every one of our patients and clients.

We are looking for a skilled veterinary nurse with experience and commitment to providing gold standard care, who is proactive, enthusiastic, confident and enjoys teamwork.

The role:

This is a first opinion companion animal nursing role only suitable for a Registered Veterinary Nurse The role will include all areas of first opinion nursing including Anaesthesia and theatre nursing In-patient care Nurse consultations (15 minutes +) Internal laboratory work Radiography Working with two certificate holders on a varied case load including orthopaedic surgery and medical investigations Student veterinary nurse training helpful Occasional reception duties 4 day working week with a share of Saturday mornings 1:5 No OOH
The person:

Confident in all areas of first opinion nursing including anaesthesia, in-patient care and nurse consultations Excellent client communication skills to build trust and rapport with clients through nurse clinics and telephone consultations Excellent team-working skills and the ability to work flexibly in a small efficient team to achieve gold-standard care Committed to fear-free and no-scruff calm and confident handling and restraint of patients wherever possible Passionate about providing the highest standards of care and maintain and develop individual clinical skills and knowledge Enthusiasm for contributing to and developing hospitalisation and nursing protocols in a new practice Confidence to work in a small team and sometimes independently as the only RVN (always with vet support) during procedures Enthusiasm and ability to educate pet owners and involve them in their pets' health and treatments Strong attention to detail and thoroughness in completing tasks
