Ipsen is looking for a Senior Leader for the role of VP, Procurement Business Partner to the EVP & Head of International Commercial Operations and her Leadership Team of General Managers across EMEA and APAC.

You will be reporting to the CPO and be part of a dynamic Global Procurement, Real Estate and Facilities Leadership team. You will be working closely with the VP of Finance International Commercial Operations and her leadership team of regional CFOs.

If you are highly results oriented, analytical and can effectively connect the dots to drive procurement agenda with a keen sense of business acumen, this role is for you.

Our ideal candidate would have multiple years of Procurement Leadership experience within Pharma, Biotech, and/or other regulated industries, should have implemented global business led procurement strategies successfully at market level within Europe, Asia, and other regions.

You should have led international procurement teams (both direct and matrixed) and have proven experience in collaborating with Business, Finance, and other stakeholders to drive cost efficiencies, process simplification and people development.

Spend under coverage includes all indirect categories (e.g., Marketing, Market Research & Data, Travel & Events) and direct categories (e.g., Logistics and distribution).

Purpose of the position

The purpose of the role is to ensure an exemplary and best in class partnering between procurement and each Ipsen business units and their ELT leader.

This business partnering will enable the transformation of procurement. By listening to and influencing top leaders in Ipsen, we will establish procurement into a key strategic partner and ensure we realize our ambition to manage the 1.4bn\xe2\x82\xac of external spend efficiently and wisely, and in turn allow Ipsen to realize its ambition

The procurement business partner will ensure the leadership of the procurement teams serving its business stakeholders, and will sit at the ELT member\xe2\x80\x99s leadership team.

By being a highly credible ambassador between the business and central procurement category teams, the Procurement partner will play a key role in having strong procurement strategies that will take into account business needs, and also be implemented consistently.

Main responsibilities and tasks

  • Manage team of procurement managers that have historically worked independently
  • Deliver financial, quality, supply and risk mitigation objectives. Ensure savings reported are robust and fully in line with savings methodology
  • Optimize spend and direct staff in the input to, and implementation of, global/regional sourcing strategies for categories managed globally/Regionally, and design and implement strategies for local categories only specific to the business unit served
  • Act as an ambassador of local procurement into global procurement and vice versa
  • Act as an ambassador of procurement into business and vice versa
  • Sit at ELT member\xe2\x80\x99s LT, and at Global Procurement Leadership team
  • Direct staff in the identification and validation of potential value creation opportunities.
  • With the business, build and maintain a co-owned/co-shared mindset for every step of value creation: generating ideas and identifying opportunities together, delivering them together.
  • Actively solicit and obtain executive stakeholder support for sourcing strategies impacting their area
  • Develop staff to ensure high caliber individuals with ability to sit at site/affiliate LTs.
  • Ensure development of procurement talent in local team is fully taken into account by making such talent visible at talent reviews both of the procurement function and talent review of the business unit. Facilitate career paths of procurement staff
  • Ensure early involvement of procurement and ensure demand levers are fully explored in any third party spend
  • Ensure robust processes are in place to maximize compliance. Although the role cannot be accountable for compliance beyond its own team (i.e. within procurement), it has accountability for making visible the non-compliance on third party spend that occurs in the business unit it supports (through non-compliance reporting, incident escalation, etc)

Education/certification:
  • Master degree or above preferred, in commercial/economics/procurement/supply chain preferred.
Language
  • Fluent English
  • French desirable but not mandatory
Experience / Qualifications
  • Ideally, strong procurement experience in either category role and/or business partnering role
  • However, most important skills in this role are not functional hard procurement skills, but the \xe2\x80\x98soft\xe2\x80\x99 influencing/leadership skills and overall credibility with the stakeholders. Which means profiles could be of seasoned procurement professionals (with pharma experienced preferred, or highly regulated industry) but also profiles with little or even no procurement experience can be considered if they have strong credibility with the stakeholders

  • However, ideally technical skills related to the role would be :
  • Analytics & fact base building: spend analysis, vendor market analysis, clean sheet costing, TCO,\xe2\x80\xa6
  • Category strategy development: RFXs, stakeholder alignment, Sourcing strategy,\xe2\x80\xa6
  • Execution: negotiation, contracting,\xe2\x80\xa6
Other Useful Information
  • Specifics of the position: Procurement business partner is a role similar to Business partners role in Finance, HR etc where the business partners plays an interface role between central functions and the business stakeholders, sitting at the ELT member\xe2\x80\x99s leadership team. The 2 dimensions that are probably more specific to procurement are (i) the needs to buy at scale which requires a very strong leadership to align local procurement teams who have historically been working independently and (2) the extend of external interface (i.e. with vendors)

  • Internal: business stakeholder they are partnering with at ELT, SVP and VP level.
  • Internal: Central procurement teams (i.e. category leads) and other procurement business partners
  • External: vendors in their scope of responsibility
  • Financial impact: 200-250m\xe2\x82\xac spend under scope, to grow to 300-350 as the scope of spend addressable by procurement will grow
  • People management: 10-20 people in direct management
