Job Introduction

As a Visiting Music Teacher, you will be required to work with the Director of Music, School Office and Prep SMT for the benefit of the school community.


You will need to liaise with these staff regarding timetabling, pupil lists, exam organisation and preparation, and to support pupils, as appropriate, for school events.


Alongside teaching individual guitar lessons to pupils as requested by the parents, including preparation for music examinations when appropriate. You will also be expected to contribute to the wider musical life of the school, through ensemble coaching, workshops, or enrichment activities as required.

Main Responsibilities
Planning, preparation and delivery of individual music lessons. To communicate effectively with pupils and parents, as well as colleagues. Preparing students for public music examinations. Maintaining good order and discipline among the students and safeguarding their health and safety both when they are on the School premises and when they are engaged in authorised School activities elsewhere, as required.

About Repton School

Repton is the ancient capital of Mercia, and the School, founded in 1557 from a bequest from Sir John Port of Etwall, was established on the site of a 7th century Anglo-Saxon Benedictine abbey and latterly a 12th century Augustinian priory and the School today incorporates many of the original buildings from the estate.


The School has over one thousand pupils across the Prep and Senior School, making it large enough to achieve excellence in and out of the classroom, yet small enough for individuals to grow and succeed.
