Visitor Centre Manager

to lead our team and ensure an outstanding customer experience.

Role Overview

The

Visitor Centre Manager

will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the visitor experience, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and strategic alignment with the Dunphail brand. This is a hands-on role that requires strong leadership, excellent organisational skills, and a deep appreciation for whisky culture.

Key Responsibilities

Visitor Experience & Events Management:

Oversee the overall visitor experience for tour guests and shop customers, ensuring exceptional service, smooth operations, and a welcoming atmosphere.

Tour Development & Delivery:

Develop and refine tour content, tailoring experiences for specific groups and enhancing offerings during whisky festivals and special events.

Team Leadership & Development:

Manage and support the Visitor Centre team, ensuring training, development, and performance reviews are conducted to maintain a high standard of customer engagement.

Retail & Sales Management:

Oversee all Visitor Centre sales, including the on-site shop and online store. Ensure strong retail management, stock control, and alignment of merchandise with the Dunphail brand strategy.

Brand Support & Engagement:

Work closely with the Brand team to enhance visitor engagement, storytelling, and marketing initiatives.

Operational Administration:

Provide administrative support to the production team, liaising with head office and suppliers as needed.

Health & Safety Compliance:

Ensure full compliance with health and safety standards within the Visitor Centre and work closely with the management and production teams for smooth operations.

Performance Reporting:

Record and analyse key data insights, including visitor numbers, reputational scores, and sales figures, to drive continuous improvement.

Licensing & Alcohol Sales Compliance:

Act as the designated Premises Manager for alcohol sales and either hold or be willing to obtain a Personal Licence.

External Event Representation:

In the future, represent Dunphail Distillery at key events and festivals across Scotland to promote our Single Malt Scotch Whisky.

Who You Are

We are looking for someone who:

Has previous experience/background in a visitor experience, hospitality, retail, or tourism management role (preferably within the whisky or drinks industry). Is an enthusiastic and engaging leader with a passion for delivering top-tier customer experiences. Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with customers, team members, and stakeholders. Is commercially aware with strong retail management experience, including stock control and sales reporting. Has event planning experience and the ability to develop engaging tour and tasting experiences. Understands the importance of brand alignment and storytelling in a customer-facing environment. Has strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask and manage priorities effectively. Holds or is willing to obtain a Personal Licence for alcohol sales.
