Solihull Music School requires a self employed Vocal Teacher to head-up our Vocal Department to teach students age 6 to Adult, in small groups and individually.
Solihull Music School teaches the Rockschool Vocals Course and although knowledge of this course is not essential, priority will be given to those Candidates who are familiar with Rockschool.
You must be a good singer, with all round musical skills, including chords, accompanying, notation & music theory. Able to sing in popular styles with confidence and use your technical ability to produce exciting performances which will motivate your classes.
The minimum standard for our teachers is Grade 6, though we expect such candidates to work towards Grade 8.
We require someone with an outgoing personality and sense of humour, with good communication skills, willing and able to work as part of a team and plan excellent quality lessons.
Classes will take place late afternoon/evening on Mondays and Tuesdays. There is huge scope for expansion of hours/days taught. Current hours are 4-8pm both days and you will be taking over from an existing teacher with a view to adding 1 more teaching day.
We will work hard to help you build up your pupil numbers.
We'll train you in the use of the studio instruments and equipment you'll be teaching with. It will include a PA and keyboard (to play MIDI/Audio files) which will help to enhance your students' experience of their weekly lessons.
The teacher's part in promotions is, every so often, to give up some time to run free taster sessions, from which we help you recruit your students.
At interview you should be prepared to perform and demonstrate the highest technical levels of your performance.
Please note, our Music School location is within a 3 storey building. The vocal lessons will be on the top floor so being able to access the floors will be vital. There is no lift.
We teach for 44 weeks of the year, so teachers will have 8 weeks holiday during the time we are closed. We ask all our teacher to commit to those 44 weeks.
