We are looking for a compassionate and enthusiastic

Activity Assistant

to join our vibrant team at

Spiral Sussex Day Centre

, supporting adults with learning disabilities. This role is key to providing meaningful, inclusive, and engaging activities that promote social interaction, independence, and personal development in a safe, supportive environment.

The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for empowering others, an understanding of diverse needs, and the creativity to deliver a wide range of activities that our service users will enjoy and benefit from.

Responsibilities

Help our staff organize and deliver a variety of fun, creative, and therapeutic activities tailored to the abilities, interests, and needs of our service users. Actively support individuals to take part in sessions, offering encouragement and assistance where needed. Adapt activities to meet individuals goals, especially for those with additional physical, sensory, or communication needs. Help create a warm, welcoming, and stimulating day centre environment where everyone feels safe and valued. Take part in regular team meetings and contribute new ideas to enhance our day centre programmes.

Skills and Experience

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage positively with adults who have learning disabilities. Experience working in a support, care, or community setting is highly desirable but not required. Creativity and enthusiasm for planning and delivering inclusive, accessible activities. A team player with a flexible approach, able to work independently when needed. Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards supporting people with varied abilities and needs. Basic knowledge of safeguarding and person-centred support (training provided if needed).
