Role overview



We are seeking to engage an enthusiastic and highly organised Event Manager and Organiser into our team on a volunteer basis. This volunteer will play a crucial role in planning, coordinating, and executing events that support our mission. Key Responsibilities



The successful candidate will be expected to:

develop and implement plans for events workshops, and community outreach programmes. coordinate all logistical aspects of events, such as venue selection, catering, transportation, and equipment rental. recruit, train, and manage event volunteers to ensure successful event execution. work with our marketing team to promote events through various channels, including social media, Eventbrite, email broadcasts, and the mainstream media. create and manage event budgets, ensuring all activities are cost-effective and within financial constraints. liaise with stakeholders, including sponsors, partners, local community organisations, and participants, to build strong relationships and ensure their needs are met. oversee event setup, execution, and teardown, ensuring everything runs smoothly and efficiently. conduct post-event evaluations to gather feedback and assess the event's success, providing recommendations for improvements going into the future.

Essential skills



The ideal candidate must have:

proven experience in event planning and management, with a strong portfolio showcasing previous events. excellent organisational and multitasking skills, with a keen eye for details. strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders. demonstrated leadership abilities, including volunteer management and team coordination. strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle unexpected challenges during events. experience in creating and managing budgets, with a focus on cost-effective solutions.

Desirable skills



The candidate should be able to demonstrate:

an understanding of event marketing strategies and tools, including social media promotion. strong networking skills to build and maintain relationships with sponsors, partners, and community members. ability to think creatively and develop unique event concepts and themes. familiarity with event management software and tools. experience in writing grant proposals and securing funding for events. ability to analyze event data and feedback to measure success and identify areas for improvement.

Time commitment



we operate flexible hours, with an estimated commitment of 5-10 hours per week, increasing closer to event dates. The schedule can be adjusted based on the volunteer's availability. A minimum commitment of six months is preferred, with the possibility of extension based on mutual agreement.
