Eryri is a special place full of nationally and internationally important habitats and wildlife. Climate change and the global nature crisis means that Eryri needs protecting now more than ever before. That's where we come in - we are the only charity existing solely to protect and enhance the beauty and special qualities of the Eryri National Park. Our dedicated team of staff, trustees, members and volunteers work tirelessly to ensure Eryri and its habitats and wildlife are here to stay.
Practical conservation is a significant strand of our work, and we need someone to join our team to lead and coordinate our diverse programme going forward. We work with a wide range of partners on tasks such as tree planting, invasive species control and habitat management to name but a few. We also work in very close partnership with Eryri National Park Authority, the National Trust and the Outdoor Partnership on our flagship volunteer programme Caru Eryri.

Role Description: Volunteers Officer
Hours: 37.5 hours/week
Salary: 26,000-27,000 dependent on experience
Reports to: Conservation Manager

Person specification:
We are looking for someone who will:
Be enthusiastic and passionate about nature conservation in Eryri and want to make a difference
Be an excellent communicator who enjoys working with people. You will have good social media literacy.
Be highly organised with an eye for detail
Have excellent IT skills including experience of using MS Office (e.g Excel and Word) and data bases
Have experience of working in a team to achieve, record and evidence outputs and targets, ideally in relation to grant funders
Be able to communicate in both Welsh and English. Committed Welsh learners and second language speakers are encouraged to apply, we want to help you develop your Welsh language skills!
Main responsibilities
Responsible for the day to day management of the volunteer database including bilingual adverts, funders and partner logos, volunteer administrative management, accurate recording of volunteer activity and communications with volunteers
Manage to a very high standard, volunteer services and communications, reflecting the fundamental importance of volunteers to the Society - including adverts on our (and partner) websites, social media, newsletters etc.
Ensure that safeguarding protocols are followed, and Health and Safety issues reported
Work with and support other staff to deliver an interesting and varied events and volunteer programme
Work to increase the diversity of volunteers and the improve the quality of the volunteer experience.
As required represent the Society at external events, to build public support for our work including recruiting new members, volunteers and supporters.
Liaise with other CESS staff to ensure smooth running of all activities
Opportunity for an interested candidate to work with the Conservation Manager and the rest of the team, to develop skills to organise and lead occasional volunteer workdays in line with Society's action plan. This will include risk assessments, volunteer recruitment, practical arrangements, publicity of opportunities and work carried out, recording of volunteer activity and reporting on work completed.
Other responsibilities:
Input to monitoring and evaluation of the Society's work, and, with other staff, develop effective impact reporting.
Represent the Society at events and to groups, in partnerships and in the media to build support for our work.
Work in a way to ensure that all staff, trustees, members, volunteers and the public are dealt with fairly, respectfully and in a way which encourages diversity, equality and inclusion
The Welsh language is one of the nine special qualities of Eryri. All staff should advocate for and promote the use of the Welsh language. In line with their own Welsh language ability, staff members should support Welsh learners to develop skills and encourage non-Welsh speakers to learn about and appreciate the Welsh language.
