Are you seeking a full-time Waking Night Support Worker role where you can create a safe, stable and nurturing environment for children and young people during the night? We are recruiting dedicated Full-Time Waking Night Children's Support Workers to join our Ofsted-registered therapeutic residential children's home in Romford.
This full-time night role is ideal for someone who is calm, consistent and passionate about residential childcare, therapeutic practice and ensuring that young people feel secure and supported throughout the night.

Purpose-Led Residential Childcare Role
As a Waking Night Childcare Support Worker, you will provide safety, reassurance and emotional support to young people aged 10-17 throughout the night, ensuring they feel settled within a therapeutic environment.
Supportive, Trauma-Informed Team Culture
You will receive a full induction, ongoing training, reflective practice and professional development within a values-driven and child-centred residential care setting.
Key Responsibilities
As a Full-Time Waking Night Residential Support Worker, you will:
Provide a calm, steady and reassuring presence for young people during the night
Monitor wellbeing, safety and behaviour, ensuring the home remains stable and secure
Support bedtime routines and promote positive sleep habits
Conduct regular welfare checks and respond appropriately to incidents or distress
Follow safeguarding procedures, behaviour support plans and risk management strategies
Maintain accurate night logs, incident records and detailed handovers for day staff
Carry out light household tasks to support the smooth running of the home
Work collaboratively within a trauma-informed, therapeutic and child-focused team
What We're Looking For
Essential Requirements:
Experience supporting children or young people (residential care, youth work, social care or education)
Ability to remain calm, professional and resilient during night hours
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Good understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries
Flexibility to work full-time night shifts, including weekends and bank holidays
Desirable:
Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards it)
First Aid training
Experience supporting children with emotional or behavioural needs
Full UK driving licence
