About the Role:
MJM Care Group is seeking a committed and compassionate
Waking Night Child Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP)
to join our therapeutic residential home for children aged 8-17 with complex emotional and behavioural needs. You will be a calm, consistent presence through the night, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment is maintained while supporting the emotional wellbeing of the children in our care. This is a key role that helps ensure continuity, protection and dignity for vulnerable children during the quietest hours of the day.
Key Responsibilities:
Remain awake and attentive throughout the night to safeguard and support children
Carry out regular checks and respond to emotional or behavioural needs
Maintain accurate logs, records, and incident reports
Provide reassurance, consistency and calm to any children who wake or are unsettled
Support with morning transitions and handovers to the day team
Complete light domestic tasks to prepare the home for the following day
What We're Looking For:
A nurturing and emotionally resilient individual
Experience supporting children or vulnerable people (preferred but not essential)
Comfortable working alone and using initiative during night shifts
Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards it)
A clear understanding of safeguarding and trauma-informed practice
