Waking Nights Residential Support Worker
to join our dedicated team.
This vital role provides emotional stability and physical safety for young people aged 10-17 who may be experiencing trauma, anxiety, or behavioural challenges. If you're calm under pressure, emotionally resilient, and committed to supporting others, we'd love to hear from you.
Your Role
Working through the night, you'll be a steady, reassuring presence in the home. You'll create a calm, nurturing environment, ensure safety and wellbeing, respond to emotional needs, and prepare for smooth, positive morning transitions.
Key responsibilities include:
Monitoring safety and wellbeing throughout the night, carrying out regular checks
Responding to emotional or behavioural incidents using trauma-informed approaches
Providing reassurance to young people who may feel anxious or unsettled
De-escalating challenging situations and following safeguarding protocols
Recording incidents, welfare concerns, and observations clearly and accurately
Conducting routine fire, room, and perimeter checks
Administering medication and maintaining accurate MAR records
Supporting with domestic tasks such as cleaning and laundry overnight
Assisting with breakfast preparation and morning routines
Delivering detailed handovers to ensure consistency between shifts
Participating in mandatory training, supervision, and reflective practice
What We're Looking For
Minimum 1 year of experience in residential childcare or a similar care setting (preferred)
Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards it)
Calm, nurturing, and observant approach with strong emotional resilience
Excellent communication and time management skills
Clear understanding of safeguarding and trauma-informed care
Full UK driving licence (preferred but not essential)
