Waking Night Support Workers
to join our solo provision home in Reading. In this vital role, you'll be supporting a child or young person with complex emotional and behavioural needs--helping to create a stable, secure night-time environment where they feel safe, seen, and supported.
This is more than just a monitoring role.
You'll be a trusted presence through the night--helping young people rest, regulate, and recover in a space built around care and connection.
About the Role
As a Waking Night Support Worker, you'll ensure the wellbeing of the young person throughout the night. Working closely with a supportive and professional team, you'll contribute to a consistent, trauma-informed approach that makes a lasting difference.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide calm and consistent overnight support
Offer emotional reassurance using therapeutic, trauma-informed approaches
Support bedtime routines and follow personalised care plans
Ensure a safe, secure setting and respond effectively to any incidents
Accurately maintain records and communicate clearly during shift handovers
Work closely with daytime teams to ensure seamless continuity of care
Be a steady, positive role model for the young person
What We're Looking For:
Experience supporting children or young people with emotional and behavioural needs (preferred)
A calm, patient, and emotionally resilient mindset
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
A strong commitment to supporting children through trauma and adversity
Willingness to work towards (or possession of) a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare
