At Cornerstone Children's Homes, we are seeking committed Waking Night Support Workers to join our residential team in Reading, providing essential overnight care for a child or young person with complex emotional and behavioural needs.

This is not simply a monitoring role -- it's about creating a calm, supportive space where children feel emotionally and physically safe during the night. Your steady presence will help build the trust and security they need to heal and grow.

The Role

As a Waking Night Support Worker in our solo provision home, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding the wellbeing of the young person in your care. You'll work within a dedicated and professional team that values empathy, structure, and trauma-informed practice.

Key Responsibilities

Provide a calm, consistent presence throughout the night Offer emotional reassurance using trauma-informed approaches Support bedtime routines and care plans with structure and empathy Maintain a safe, secure environment and respond effectively to any incidents Keep accurate records and participate in thorough shift handovers Work collaboratively with daytime colleagues to ensure continuity of care Be a positive, reliable role model at all times

What We're Looking For

Previous experience supporting children or young people with emotional and behavioural needs (preferred) A calm, patient, and emotionally resilient approach Strong verbal and written communication skills A genuine commitment to supporting children through challenging experiences Willingness to work towards (or current possession of) a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare Applicants must be 23 or over (in line with Ofsted regulations)
