Waking Night Support Worker

Stockton Heath, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

At Bright Futures, everything circles back to one belief: every person with autism or a learning disability deserves the chance to thrive. Our specialist home in Stockton Heath, Warrington provides high-quality care, education and life-enriching opportunities, delivered by teams who are as skilled as they are compassionate.

Job Role

Our Stockton Heath service is one of Bright Futures' most established adult homes, made up of two properties, Bridgewell and Coach House, just a short walk from the busy village centre. The homes offer a warm, structured and community-focused setting where adults are supported to feel safe, settled and engaged both day and night.

The individuals we support each have their own routines, interests and communication needs, and staff play an important role in helping them enjoy the activities they love whether that's walking, sports, music, Disney films, reading, games, family time, or trips into the community. Many individuals value clear routines and patient, reassuring support, and Waking Night staff help maintain safety, comfort and consistency overnight while completing essential monitoring, communication logs and agreed night-time duties.

We're looking for patient, resilient, proactive and positive individuals who can bring calm confidence to the night shift. Energetic, active and engaging personalities work especially well here, along with people who are kind, good communicators, able to follow routines and respectful of personal space.

Responsibilities

Provide safe, person-centred care and supervision throughout the night, supporting the wellbeing and comfort of the people in the home. Record night-time observations, incidents and wellbeing checks clearly, ensuring accurate handovers to the day team. Follow care plans, behaviour support strategies and safeguarding protocols, escalating concerns where required. Complete agreed night-time domestic tasks, ensuring the home remains clean, safe and well-presented for the following day. Work confidently during waking night shifts, maintaining professionalism, calm decision-making and strong communication at all times.

What we're looking for

Previous experience in a care or support role is desirable (waking night experience beneficial but not essential). A care-related qualification (e.g. Level 2/3 Health & Social Care or equivalent) is desirable. Warm, person-centred approach with a strong focus on safeguarding, wellbeing and maintaining professional boundaries. Calm, resilient and proactive with the ability to work independently overnight and respond appropriately in unexpected situations. Strong communication and teamwork skills, ensuring accurate recording, confident lone working, and effective handover with day staff.

Salary & Benefits

25,913.58 - 29,615.52 Healthcare Cashback (dental, optical, physio, wellbeing) Care Friends Referral rewards up to 2000 Bright Stars bonus scheme & Employee of the Month awards Free Meals on Shift Life Assurance Policy - 2x salary Cycle to Work Scheme
