Main duties include:



Walker


Walking the children to and from school
Signing children in and out of the daily register

Play Assistant - Relief


To work under the general direction of the Manager/Deputy Manager to assist in the delivery of the Before, After-School and Holiday Club by:

Ensuring that the Before, After-School and Holiday Club is delivered effectively through the implementation of policies and procedures for provision in accordance with best practice, health and safety and safeguarding.
It is in the nature of work with children that tasks and responsibilities are in
circumstances unpredictable and varied. All staff are expected to work in a flexible way when the occasion arises.

Whilst on duty assume responsibility for the safety and welfare of children under
your supervision

Following the kid's club procedures and policies on receiving visitors in line with the
Safeguarding and Welfare requirements under The Childcare Act 2006.

Advising Manager/Deputy/Designated Safeguarding Leads of any concerns, e.g. over children, parents, the safety of the environment, preserving confidentiality as necessary.

Liaising with colleagues, the Deputy Manager/Manager, other internal and external relationships on day to day operational matters and refer any difficult position to the Manager/Deputy Manager for advice and assistance.

Working closely with colleagues on matters related to the day to day delivery of the
club

Setting up, including moving furniture and play equipment ensuring that equipment is properly maintained and fit for children

Ensuring that the activity areas are maintained to a safe level and in accordance
with the clubs risk assessments, procedures and policies.

To assist in the creation and management of a play environment within equal
opportunities framework where children can make choices, access a range of resources such as sports, arts and crafts, games, drama, dance, multi-media and adapted activities and be supported by a responsive and adaptable approach to their play in-line with operational procedures and policies with particular reference to health and safety.

To provide interesting activities and be prepared for the children to alter them.

Listen and talk to individual children, play with them, follow their interests, try to respect their rights and needs, and allow them to express their feelings in a way that is not damaging to the good atmosphere of the club.

To be proactive in offering ideas and initiating activities where appropriate whilst having an appreciation of the impact of adult intervention on a child's freedom to choose and create their own play environment.

Tidying away at the end of session, including moving furniture and play equipment

Consulting with children and involving them in planning activities.

Contributing to the session planning ensuring individual children's needs are met.

Providing refreshments and ensuring that hygiene, health and safety standards are met.

Administering first aid when necessary.

Administering medication in-line with policies and procedures when necessary

Encouraging parental involvement in the club.

Facilitating good communication with all members of the organisation, parents, schools and childcare and play related agencies.

Attending termly staff meetings outside working hours as appropriate.

Undertaking appropriate and relevant training and development programs both external and internal outside working hours. Training will be available as identified and appropriate and may be during the day, evening or weekend, depending on the course.

You will be expected to share information gained at external events with colleagues and promote development of the whole staff team

Actively engage with the Staff one to ones.

Being responsible for supporting your key child.

Any other duties as reasonably directed by the Manager/Deputy Manager.

The list of tasks is not an exclusive one and duties may be varied from time to time. This is subject to regular review.

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: 12.21 per hour
