to lead and manage the day-to-day operations of our [insert ward type, e.g., mental health / acute medical / surgical / CAMHS] ward. The ideal candidate will be a motivated and compassionate registered nurse with a proven track record of clinical leadership and team management.
The Ward Manager will play a key role in ensuring high standards of patient care, clinical governance, staff development, and operational efficiency, while fostering a positive and supportive team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide visible, hands-on leadership to the ward team, ensuring safe, effective, and high-quality care
Lead on staffing, rotas, recruitment, supervision, and performance management
Monitor and support compliance with clinical standards, safeguarding, infection control, and CQC requirements
Ensure patients' care plans and risk assessments are regularly reviewed and appropriately implemented
Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, patients, and families to ensure person-centred care
Lead on incident management, complaint resolution, and service improvement projects
Support the implementation of evidence-based practice and audit outcomes
Maintain oversight of ward budgets, stock control, and resource allocation
Promote a culture of continuous learning, accountability, and staff wellbeing
Requirements:Essential:
NMC-registered Nurse (RMN / RGN / RNLD depending on ward type)
Significant post-registration experience in a relevant clinical setting
Previous leadership or management experience within a ward environment
Strong clinical assessment, decision-making, and risk management skills
Excellent communication, organisation, and interpersonal abilities
Commitment to high standards of patient care and professional development
Desirable:
Leadership or management qualification (e.g., ILM, Level 5, or equivalent)
Experience with regulatory inspections (e.g., CQC) and clinical audit
Experience in change management or service development
