About the role

The Oncology Ward Manager is a key, influential role and recognised as being critical to the delivery of the Oncology strategy. Your role will involve developing and leading an already established clinical team to ensure the delivery of outstanding cancer care for our patients. Your role will encompass the people management of the Oncology nursing team ensuring an engaged and motived workforce, building a pipeline of talent that will sustain the performance of nursing services in the future.

The Oncology Ward Manager also has budgetary responsibility for the ward, ensuring clinical efficiency across all clinical areas and your role will include the management of clinical quality indicators, ensuring an excellent patient experience is always delivered and ensuring that outstanding CQC standards are maintained throughout the unit.

Skills and experience
  • Registered Nursing qualification is essential.
  • Prior experience within a Leadership position in an Oncology setting is essential.
  • Experience of successfully managing the implementation of change and developing staff
  • Experience in clinical audits along with developing protocols to support best practice.
  • An understanding of clinical governance
