role overview
We're setting up a brand-new CG warehouse - and we need a hands-on, people-focused Warehouse Manager to lead from the ground up. This role is central to delivering exceptional service to our customers, building a strong team culture, and running an efficient, well-organised operation that scales as we grow.You'll be responsible for the day-to-day running of the warehouse and for making sure everything moves safely, accurately, and on time.
key responsibilities
You will undertake a variety of duties, including but not limited to:
Day to day responsibilities:
Team leadership: Build and manage a team of permanent and seasonal operatives, with a focus on training, development and creating a positive team culture.
Warehouse operations: Oversee all core processes including goods-in, storage, picking/packing, dispatch, returns, stock checks.
Customer service: Ensure orders are fulfilled on time and to a high standard, and store deliveries run smoothly.
Health & Safety: Lead on safety across the site, including compliance with H&S procedures, risk assessments and incident reporting.
Stock control: Maintain high levels of accuracy and implement strong processes for inventory management.
Systems and reporting: Use WMS and reporting tools to monitor performance, spot issues early, and drive efficiency.
Process improvement: Help shape and improve how we work as the operation grows, using insight, feedback and a continuous improvement mindset.
Collaboration: Work closely with key teams including our Sales team, Customer Services, Buying and Merchandising.
Equipment oversight: Ensure proper use and maintenance of warehouse equipment including forklifts, pallet trucks, scanners and printers.
SOP ownership: Maintain and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ensure all team members are trained and confident in their roles.
Budget awareness: Support cost control across consumables, temp staffing and logistics as required.
Go-live Responsibilities (Pre-Go-Live):
Spend time off-site to gain hands-on understanding of existing processes, order flows, and systems.
Support planning and coordination of set up, including stock reconciliation and physical transfer.
Act as the key contact for operational readiness ahead of site go-live, helping to ensure a smooth and timely transition to the new facility.
key skills & experience
Proven experience managing warehouse operations, with a strong background in logistics, supply chain, and inventory management best practices, including compliance with relevant regulations
Strong leadership and supervisory skills - ability to inspire and manage teams effectively, lead by example, communicate clearly, and make calm, structured decisions with a hands-on approach
Excellent numeracy and computer literacy, including MS Excel/Office proficiency; comfortable working with systems and data, with experience using WMS
Proactive and organised, with a focus on continuous improvement and process optimisation strategies
Health & Safety awareness and experience in similar operational environments
You'll need to be adaptable and responsive, able to adjust to changing priorities and accommodate the evolving needs of the role
Physical capability for warehouse tasks, including operating machinery when required; forklift operation proficiency and valid licences are desirable but not essential

This is a full-time, on-site role. Standard working hours are approximately 8.00am-4.30pm, with flexibility to support early deliveries or late dispatch during peak periods, weekend moves or stock transfers.
