Position Summary
The Warehouse Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of warehouse operations, ensuring the efficient, accurate, and safe receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods. This role includes managing inventory, supervising staff, enforcing safety and compliance standards, and continuously improving warehouse processes to meet operational targets.
Reporting directly to the Factory Operations Manager , the Warehouse Manager plays a critical role in expediting the supply chain of the company's products. Key responsibilities include managing incoming shipments, organising and storing inventory, and ensuring timely dispatch of goods to customers and end-users. Ultimately, the Warehouse Manager is accountable for driving operational excellence within the distribution centre.
Main Duties/Responsibilities
Leadership & Staff Management
Report directly to the Factory Operations Manager
Manage warehouse staff, including recruitment, training, team building, task assignment, and performance monitoring.
Motivate and lead the team to achieve picking and performance targets.
Ensure adherence to company policies, including the "clean as you go" policy.
Inventory & Order Management
Oversee stock control, rotation, and accuracy through computerized inventory and retrieval systems.
Monitor stock levels and optimize warehouse space for efficient storage.
Ensure timely and accurate order picking, packing, and dispatch of finished goods.
Maintain up-to-date records of all stock movements and ensure all daily orders are completed.
Process Optimization & Systems Management
Identify opportunities to improve warehouse processes and implement enhancements for increased efficiency.
Utilize warehouse management systems (WMS) to streamline operations and maintain accurate data.
Update internal systems daily and accurately to reflect warehouse activities.
Safety, Hygiene & Compliance
Enforce health and safety regulations and maintain a clean, safe working environment.
Conduct inspections of delivered goods and document checks in accordance with HACCP and other regulatory requirements.
Oversee hygiene, cleanliness, and safety in warehouse welfare facilities, including toilets and rest areas.
Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and company standards.
Distribution & Logistics
Oversee the distribution, handling, and pallet control of goods.
Act as the main point of contact for distribution services, including booking with customers and suppliers.
Ensure efficient coordination of deliveries and dispatches to meet customer expectations.
Customer & Financial Management
Liaise with customers, suppliers, and internal departments to ensure timely and accurate order fulfilment.
Address and resolve any delivery or inventory issues professionally.
Required Essential Skills and Qualification
Previous experience in a similar role and sector
Five years plus experience in warehousing and supply chain logistics
Experience in distribution law, space optimisation and warehouse layout.
Warehouse management software expertise
Have full licence for FLT or RHT
Required Personal Attributes
Good communication skills, both written and verbal
Great attention to detail
Quick learner with the ability to follow continuous training.
Reliable, Flexible with a positive attitude
Team player but also able to work on their own initiative.
Ability to work under pressure and within certain timeframes.
