Job Summary:
We are seeking a hands-on and proactive Warehouse Manager to oversee the daily operations of our warehouse facility. Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role is critical to ensuring efficient inventory control, accurate and timely customer shipments, a secure site, and full compliance with health and safety standards. A valid forklift licence is essential.
This position offers the opportunity for career progression. Over an agreed period, the role will develop into a more senior operational management position, with expanded responsibility for the Customer Service team and responsibility of the company's ISO accreditation and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Warehouse Operations:
Manage day-to-day warehouse activities including goods-in, storage, picking, packing, and dispatch.
Ensure accurate and timely shipment of goods to meet customer expectations.
Maintain an efficient warehouse layout to optimise workflow and space utilisation.
Stock Control:
Maintain accurate stock levels, including cycle counts and regular stocktakes.
Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies.
Support continuous improvement of stock management processes.
Health & Safety:
Ensure compliance with all H&S regulations and company safety policies.
Conduct regular site inspections, risk assessments, and safety audits.
Promote a safe working culture and lead by example.
Site Security:
Act as key holder with responsibility for site opening and closing procedures.
Ensure the security of premises, stock, and company assets.
Monitor site access and report any security issues.
Forklift Operations:
Operate forklifts safely and efficiently.
Maintain forklift and material handling equipment in accordance with safety standards.
Team Leadership:
Supervise warehouse staff, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
Provide training, support, and clear direction to the team.
Support recruitment and development of warehouse personnel.
Future Development:
This role is designed to evolve into a more senior operational position within the business. Over an agreed transition period, the successful candidate will:
Take on
line management of the Customer Service team
, ensuring alignment between warehouse operations and customer satisfaction
Lead and maintain
ISO accreditation
processes (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO14001), ensuring continuous compliance and quality management improvements
Play a key role in shaping company procedures and operational best practices
Requirements:
Proven experience in warehouse management or supervision
Valid forklift licence (counterbalance and/or reach)
Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, logistics, and stock control
Understanding of Health & Safety legislation and site security protocols
Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills
IT literacy, including familiarity with warehouse or ERP systems
Must be local to Tunbridge Wells to support alarm call-outs and opening/closing
Desirable:
Experience managing or working alongside customer service teams
Familiarity with ISO standards, particularly ISO 9001
First Aid or Fire Marshal certification
