We are seeking a dedicated Warehouse Operative to join our dynamic logistics team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for efficiently managing inventory, operating heavy equipment, and supporting warehouse distribution processes. This role requires a strong understanding of warehouse management systems and safety protocols to ensure smooth operations in a fast-paced environment. Previous experience in warehouse management, forklift operation, or materials handling is highly desirable. The Warehouse Operative plays a critical role in order fulfilment, shipping & receiving, and maintaining accurate inventory control.
Duties
Manage inventory levels using warehouse management systems and RF scanners to ensure accurate stock records
Operate heavy equipment such as reach trucks, forklifts, cranes, and pallet jacks safely and efficiently
Assist with order picking & packing, including picker tasks, to fulfil customer orders accurately and promptly
Load and unload shipments, ensuring proper handling of materials and adherence to OSHA safety standards
Support shipping & receiving processes by preparing goods for dispatch and verifying incoming shipments against purchase orders
Conduct stock replenishment and stocking activities to maintain optimal inventory levels
Perform materials handling tasks, including heavy lifting, packaging, and assembly, as needed for manufacturing or distribution
Maintain a clean and organised warehouse environment, following safety protocols and mechanical knowledge requirements
Collaborate with warehouse supervisors to improve workflow efficiency and implement best practices in warehouse management system operations
Qualifications
Proven experience in warehouse operations or distribution centres; warehouse supervisor experience is a plus
Proficiency with inventory management systems such as AS400 or similar platforms
Valid certification for forklift, reach truck, crane, or heavy equipment operation preferred
Strong mechanical knowledge and familiarity with OSHA safety standards in warehousing environments
Ability to operate RF scanners, order pickers, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment safely
Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail for inventory control and order fulfilment accuracy
Physical capability for heavy lifting and extended periods of standing or walking within the warehouse setting
Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes, shipping & receiving procedures, and materials handling techniques
Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
