Role Profile: Warehouse Operative



Overall DELIVERABLES expected from this role are

-

To unload, receive and log all goods coming into the warehouse. To organise their unit/container storage appropriately, efficiently and safely. To locate goods for delivery and load up the delivery vehicles for dispatch. Inspection of goods and vehicles to company standard. To 'back up' cover inputting in the office as and when required to help cover holiday/ sick leave as and when needed.

Taking delivery of goods and supplies Weighing, taking dimensions of all goods to be shipped Ensuring all paperwork is correct and clear on details for who/ where to ship to Discharging ship as/when required Loading reefers for Alderney (ensure chilled/frozen in correct reefer) Checking for damaged or missing items; ensuring PODs are signed appropriately (advising of damage/ missing items at point of receipt) Storing goods (in an organised, effective and efficient manner) Checking with office team if goods in have no consignee/receiver on the paperwork Moving stock around by hand, using lifting gear or a forklift truck Packing orders if not palletized when received in Loading goods into units for relevant island. Keeping paperwork up to date Liaising with office to handle customer queries/ bookings Maintaining a clean and professional warehouse Identify any opportunities when with customers for increasing business and feedback to Line Manager To provide back up office cover (inputting into our freight computer system) to help cover sick leave or holiday in the limited time this is required.

Key Compliance Requirements Applicable to this role:



Identifying dangerous goods and ensuring all correct paperwork is attached (or request support from Operations Manager if uncertain) Ensure all dangerous goods going out of warehouse is carried/stored in line with legislation (again requesting support from Operations Manager where required) Ensure dates in units loaded meet regulations and advising Supervisor/Manager when out of date to ensure not used Role Dimensions

Communication with others outside the Company

e.g. suppliers, customers, the general public etc:

Delivery drivers - ensuring all correct paperwork is supplied/ if goods arrive in damaged/ if goods not packaged correctly for shipping Communication with others within the Alderney Shipping Group (including any other Alderney Shipping Group companies or divisions) If possible, please detail with whom, why, frequency and importance Supervisor for day to day queries/ dangerous goods/clarification on workload/ working area etc Office Freight Administrators for day-day requirements; goods-in consignment notes, managing freight/ damaged freight etc

Decision Making Autonomy

What decisions does the role holder have autonomy/responsibility for i.e. do not need approval from others (or may only require final approval post recommendation), including any financial limits:

Receiving in goods if damaged - notifying Office team to check if customer wants goods/ if delivery rejected Allocating goods to correct container

required for this role :

Excellent level of fitness Excellent teamworking skills Ability to work quickly and efficiently Ability to complete paperwork and count stock items Basic computer skills Understanding of health and safety regulations (including dangerous goods) Honesty and reliability Willingness to work flexibly.

Qualifications

Include any qualifications that are a minimum requirement for this role

GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English Ideally a clean and full driving license Forklift certificate
