About this role
Land and Water Remediation are looking for a Weighbridge Operator to join our team at the Rainham Lagoons. We are restoring a wetland habitat, re-using material generated from our in-house dredging operations on the Thames, and major infrastructure projects. Our main site activity utilises our own wharf to unload and transport materials from barges and managing the disposal of those materials once onsite.
The site has had permit & planning approved for a soil-washing facility. We are looking to strengthen our small existing site-based team, to be able to deliver the operational & statutory requirements. This is an exciting time and opportunity to join the organisation & be an integral part of the preparations.

Key Accountabilities
Responsible for operating the on-site weighbridge, administering the waste transfer documentation and refining the processes and procedures in all aspects of the site to comply with environmental regulations. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in the operation of weighbridges, software and environmental waste regulations. The ideal candidate will have excellent IT and communication skills, patience, and work diligently to complete duties keeping in mind the business objectives.
Duties & Responsibilities
Weigh and record inbound and outbound materials, such as soil, aggregates, and other construction-related materials, using the weighbridge system.
Ensure accurate and timely documentation of weight measurements, material types, and relevant details.
Collaborate with drivers, site supervisors, and other personnel to facilitate the efficient flow of materials in and out of the site.
Conduct visual inspections to identify any discrepancies or potential issues with the materials being weighed.
Operate the weighbridge equipment and related software proficiently, ensuring its proper functioning and reporting any malfunctions or maintenance needs.
Maintain a clean and organized work area around the weighbridge, ensuring that all relevant signage and safety protocols are followed.
Provide exceptional customer service to drivers and visitors, addressing their queries and concerns promptly and professionally.
Comply with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations, and actively contribute to the site's safety culture.
Assist in general administrative tasks, such as maintaining records, generating reports, and managing data related to material movements.
Collaborate with other site personnel to support overall operations and contribute to a positive team environment.
Person specifications
Skills and Experience
Due to the location of the site, your own car would be advantageous.
Previous experience as a weighbridge operator or similar is preferred
Familiarity with weighbridge systems and software is advantageous
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in recording measurements and data
Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact with drivers, site personnel and visitors
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team-orientated environment
Basic computer skills and proficiency in using software for data entry and documentation
Knowledge of health, safety and environmental regulations pertaining to material handling and site operations
Flexibility to work in various weather conditions and occasional overtime if required
A proactive and positive attitude towards problem solving and continuous improvement
Understanding of waste acceptance documentation & classification to be able to ensure driver paperwork is compliant.
