MIG welder with fabrication duties. The postholder will be involved mainly with various welding type tasks, however they may be asked to perform tasks other than those directly related to welding.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop welding projects by analysing work orders, prints and completed assembly, calculating requirements, studying metals and determining appropriate welding techniques.
2. To read and clearly understand engineering drawings and follow correctly.
3. Weld parts to correct specification and quality standards using relevant specification and Bills of Materials.
4. Support and assist in solutions to overcome problems found in welding
5. Meet set targets while working in welding area.
6. Ensure internal customers ie paint and fitting shops are supplied all products as needed.
7. Quality - ensure that parts are made to the correct standard - do not send on parts with splatter, grinding marks and poor quality workmanship.
8. Cutting lists from saws - incorrect quantities specified on the lists need to be altered if it is always recurring.
9. Ensure proper handling and storage of all tools.
10. Gas bottles - ensure that empty gas bottles are put back into the racks. Racks must be kept in a tidy and safe state.
11. When a machine is complete empty excess parts out of bins. Area for empty bins will be designated.
12. Dispose of all cardboard and any waste into skips.
13. Ensure proper handling of equipment to minimise damage through welding process.
14. Aim to minimise movement of material before final assembly.
15. Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, calling for repairs.
16. Daily equipment checks of tools.
17. Safe and controlled movement of production parts ie lifting and transporting components in the workshop using Gantry and Jib cranes.
18. Safe use of lifting slings, lock-out and tag-out procedures.
19. Leave working areas in a fit state to ensure no unnecessary health and safety risks prevail. Work in a manner that ensures the safety of oneself and other colleagues.
20. Uphold the Core Values of the company and work to achieve the wider organisational objectives as detailed in the Corporate Plan.
21. Achieve high standards of personal performance, through meeting agreed personal targets and undertaking training as required.

Qualifications & Experience
Essential
2 years' experience in welding with Metal Inert Gas (MIG) to include reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
Knowledge
Knowledge of manufacturing and production processes.
