Job Description

Navantia UK is launching an exciting new project at our yard in Methil, Scotland, and we are looking for experienced Work Pack Engineers to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a high-profile programme in heavy engineering sector, working across disciplines such as welding, plating, piping, fitting, mechanical, and steelwork.

About the Role



As a Work Pack Engineer, you will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and delivering work packs that support production activities across the yard. You will ensure that engineering, planning, and safety requirements are fully integrated into each work package, enabling efficient execution and delivery of the project.

You will work closely with production teams, supervisors, and project managers to translate design and engineering requirements into practical, safe, and achievable work instructions.

Key Responsibilities



Develop and issue detailed work packs for production activities across welding, plating, piping, fitting, mechanical, and steelwork disciplines. Ensure work packs include all necessary drawings, specifications, safety requirements, and quality standards. Liaise with engineering, planning, and production teams to coordinate schedules and resolve technical queries. Monitor progress against work packs, identifying risks, delays, or issues and proposing solutions. Support the integration of health, safety, and environmental requirements into all work instructions. Provide technical guidance to supervisors and trades, ensuring clarity and accuracy in work pack content. Contribute to continuous improvement by reviewing completed work packs and capturing lessons learned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities



Strong understanding of heavy engineering disciplines (welding, plating, piping, fitting, mechanical, steelwork). Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation. Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail. Strong communication skills to liaise effectively across engineering, planning, and production teams. Problem-solving mindset with the ability to anticipate and mitigate risks.

Education & Experience



Background in engineering or production within heavy engineering, or related industries. Experience in preparing or managing work packs for complex projects. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with project planning tools.
